Martin Skrtel weighing up Liverpool exit due to lack of game time - source

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is considering his future at Anfield after dropping down the pecking order, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.

Skrtel, 31, has started just one Premier League game for the Reds since December after several weeks out of action with a hamstring injury.

The Slovakia international was on the sidelines for two months after suffering the hamstring problem in the 3-0 defeat to Watford, but he has been unable to win his place back in Jurgen Klopp's side since returning to fitness.

Skrtel has found himself behind Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren in recent weeks and the summer arrival of Joel Matip from Schalke could limit his chances further.

Skrtel, who signed a new deal at Liverpool last summer, could consider moving on if he continues to find his first-team opportunities limited, the source told ESPN FC.

The source added that a number of Premier League and foreign clubs are actively monitoring his situation at Liverpool ahead of this summer's transfer window.
