Pablo Osvaldo blames Boca Juniors transfer delay on Porto

Pablo Osvaldo insists it is Porto and not Boca Juniors currently blocking his move back to Argentina.

Osvaldo's agent, Dario Decoud, said earlier this week that the 29-year-old was heading back to Portugal after talks in Buenos Aires because Boca were unable to afford him.

The former Southampton striker has now provided further information to allay the fears of the Boca fans that their club is struggling financially.

"I need to resolve my contractual problems with Porto before negotiating my release," the Argentine told Radio AM1190 America. "It's nothing to do with Boca. I would gladly forego 50 percent of my salary because it's not about money problems with the Argentineans, but there are [problems] with Porto.

"I hope it all gets resolved in the first week of January. I don't want the Boca fans to think that there are financial problems -- it's quite the opposite."

Osvaldo joined Porto in the summer after struggling to impress at Southampton following a €15 million transfer from Roma. He had spells on loan at Juventus -- with whom he won the Serie A title in 2014 -- Inter and Boca before the Saints released him.

With just one goal all season, Osvaldo has failed to settle in Portugal also and he does not see a future at the club.

"I'm not going to sign another contract here, it wouldn't make sense," he said. "I came to Porto with the idea of playing in the Champions League, but it didn't work out. I've reached an agreement with the coach to change my future."
