Arsenal target Mauro Icardi not leaving Inter Milan in January - sources

Inter Milan will not consider selling Arsenal target Mauro Icardi in January, sources have told ESPN FC.

Reports in Italy claim Arsenal are lining up a move for Icardi when the transfer window reopens after failing to sign him in the summer.

But Inter are determined to keep hold of the Argentina international as they look to maintain a push for the Serie A title, and are unlikely to consider selling their best players in January.

Although Arsenal are admirers of Icardi, sources have told ESPN FC they are unlikely to pursue a move in January because they want to strengthen other areas of their squad.

Icardi is seen as one of the best young strikers in Europe after scoring 40 goals in 82 appearances for Inter.

The 22-year-old, who scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, has struck four times in Serie A so far this term.
