Pato keen on Premier League as Stoke, Sunderland consider bids - sources

Former AC Milan star Alexandre Pato is eyeing a move to the Premier League, with Stoke and Sunderland weighing up moves for the Brazilian forward, sources have told ESPN FC.

Pato, 25, is coming to the end of his two-year loan deal at Sao Paulo and his parent club, Corinthians, are ready to sell the 25-year-old.

Corinthians are ready to sell Pato for €10 million (£7.2m) and the player has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs.

Pato burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old at Internacional before making a big-money move to AC Milan in 2007.

Despite scoring 51 goals in 117 Serie A games for AC Milan, his progress was held up by a series of injuries.

Pato returned to Brazil with Corinthians in 2013, but he was then loaned to Sao Paulo, where he has scored 18 goals in 35 matches this year.

A number of clubs across Europe have been alerted to his availability from Corinthians, but sources have told ESPN FC that Pato is keen on a move to England.

Stoke, who have brought in the likes of Bojan Krkic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Ibrahim Afellay in recent times, could be tempted to make Pato their latest marquee signing.

Sunderland, meanwhile, are in the market for attacking reinforcements after a disappointing start to the season and are considering whether or not to pursue a move for Pato.
