Honduras overcame an early deficit to beat Mexico 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Friday night.

Palomo: Concern for Chepo's future

There was no sign of a shock when Giovani Dos Santos provided Oribe Peralta with the chance to put Mexico one up after five minutes.

But the hosts became sloppy, and Jerry Bengston capitalized on some slack defending to equalize after 64 minutes.

Two minutes later, Carlos Costly swooped on Diego Reyes' mistake to give Honduras a lead they would not relinquish.

Mexico coach Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre will come under renewed pressure after El Tri lost their first qualifier at Azteca in their past 27 matches.

Mexico has just one win from their seven matches in the final round of CONCACAF qualifying. El Tri are in in fourth place and next face the United States in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday.
