Loic Remy scored twice as Marseille returned to form in fine style with a emphatic win over Cypriot opponents AEL in their Europa League Group C clash at the Stade Velodrome.
The Ligue 1 leaders headed into the game reeling from their first loss in 13 matches on Sunday, when they crashed 4-1 at domestic rivals Valenciennes.
And Elie Baup's men were braced for further embarrassment when Edwin Ouon put the visitors in front after 22 minutes - only for an emphatic second half display to secured Marseille's big win.
Rod Fanni equalised three minutes before the break, before Lucas Mendes, Andre Gignac and Remy's brace secured the win.
Nicolas N'Koulou had headed an early chance over the bar for the home side while Remy and Fanni also missed the target in what had all the makings of a one-sided affair.
But AEL stunned the hosts by taking a 21st minute lead when Ouon met Jorge Monteiro's corner and fired a rising shot past Steve Mandanda from 12 yards.
Marseille took some time to respond, with Aderito Dede coming close to adding a second for AEL, but the equaliser arrived in the 42nd minute when Fanni headed home after Mendes flicked on a Joey Barton corner.
Marseille dominated the second period and went ahead in the 61st minute after Mendes headed home a corner from Mathieu Valbuena.
Remy headed Marseille's third on 75 minutes from a Jordan Ayew cross, and Gignac almost made it four four minutes from time when his curler from the edge of the box struck the post.
Gignac did get on the scoresheet in the last minute when he shot low past Matias Degra from a Remy cross, and in injury time Remy rammed home his second and Marseille's fifth.
