Forfar secure play-off berth

Forfar claimed the final play-off spot on the last day of the Irn-Bru Second Division season with a 2-1 win over Ayr.

Christopher Templeman got the home side off to a dream start when he headed in with 10 minutes played.

It appeared Forfar were heading into half-time with the lead intact until Michael Bolochoweckyj's failed clearance attempt resulted in an own goal.

The hosts quickly restored the lead before the break. Templeman was brought down by Darren Brownlie in the box after a sustained period of possession.

Brownlie was sent off for his protests and Iain Campbell made no mistake with the finish, slotting the penalty into the bottom left corner.

Michael Donald gave the home fans a late scare when he fired over the bar from six yards, but Forfar were able to see out the game against Ayr's 10 men and finish the season in fourth place.
