Late goals keep Sevilla unbeaten

Sevilla remain unbeaten this season after two goals deep into the second half from Alvaro Negredo and Ivan Rakitic earned them an impressive 2-0 win at Deportivo La Coruna.

Michel's side can take great credit for emerging from the Riazor on a night when a point would have been considered a good return.

Depor have looked a handy side since their return to the top flight and were competitive enough until strikes in the 75th and 84th minutes.

Sevilla sit fourth in the standings as a result of the win, which could have been anyone`s until Negredo`s intervention.

The former Real Madrid man actually had the first chance of the night, hitting wide after a Rakitic corner fell to him, before Bruno Gama responded for Depor with a right-foot effort that was blocked by Alberto Botia.

It was end-to-end fare and Rakitic's cross was headed over by Gary Medel, while Bruno Gama again went close as he worked Andres Palop.

Depor stopper Daniel Aranzubia then made his first save as he kept out Medel, before Abel Aguilar went even closer for the home side, striking the post from 25 yards.

Those present by the Atlantic Ocean were not being short changed and Medel forced Aranzubia into action again as half-time approached, while just after it, Jesus Navas' ball should have resulted in a goal for the visitors.

Bruno Gama was at it again with 55 minutes gone, rifling in an effort that Palop pouched, with the same duo locking horns again with the same result eight minutes later.

It was Nelson Oliveira's turn to take on Palop next as Depor stepped up the pace but, with 15 minutes left, they were dealt a sucker punch as Negredo snapped up his third of the season, tucking in Cicinho's cross.

Depor seemed broken by the goal and Emir Spahic should have made it two as they dozed from a Rakitic corner, before the provider turned scorer with six minutes left as he rammed home a loose ball inside the box.

Navas would have made it three at the death were it not for the fingertips of Aranzubia, but it would have been harsh on the home side who perhaps deserved more for their efforts.
