Kelvin Langmead earned promotion chasing Northampton a last-gasp 1-1 draw at Morecambe with an 89th minute header.
The defender nodded into the empty net after an Ishmel Demontagnac free-kick hit the left hand post and rebounded perfectly into his path to earn the visitors a deserved draw.
The Cobblers were rewarded for a flurry of late pressure which saw them bombard the Morecambe goal.
Aidy Boothroyd was forced to push bodies forward after the Shrimps took a 57th-minute lead through in-form striker Jack Redshaw, who ran through the Northampton defence before curling a delightful effort past Lee Nicholls.
Morecambe had chances to double their lead but both Lewis Alessandra and Kevin Ellison produced poor first touches after being played in by Redshaw.
The first half saw Northampton hit the woodwork on three occasions with Chris Hackett, Langmead and Ben Harding all denied but Morecambe had chances of their own.
Redshaw and Gary McDonald were both denied by superb Nicholls saves before boss Jim Bentley looked on as efforts from Stewart Drummond and Chris McCready were cleared off the line in the final moments of the half.
