Danny Kedwell's thumping drive against the crossbar was the closest either side came as a stubborn Cheltenham side held league leaders Gillingham to a 0-0 draw at Priestfield.
Four minutes before half-time Cheltenham `keeper Scott Brown parried Jack Payne's speculative effort into Kedwell's path but the striker crashed his shot against the bar from six yards.
The Robins nearly went ahead when in the 12th minute Billy Jones' free-kick found Russ Penn, whose effort was kept out by Stuart Nelson with smart save.
And four minutes later Nelson was called upon again, getting down low to deny Kaid Mohamed after Jones' original effort had been blocked.
Brown got a hand to Adam Barrett's stinging shot on the hour mark before Gills substitute Deon Burton met Matt Fish's cross with 15 minutes remaining but his diving header flew just wide.
