Lopez snatches late Lyon draw
A stunning late equaliser from Lisandro Lopez maintained Lyon's unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season as Les Gones snatched a point at struggling Lille.
Nolan Roux's seventh-minute opener looked like it would be enough to earn LOSC only their second win in the league this term - and their first at their new home.
But Lisandro had the last word at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole, his 80th-minute rocket ensuring the second-placed visitors finished the weekend four points adrift of leaders Marseille.
The 2011 champions' patchy start to the season took a turn for the worse on Wednesday when they were beaten 3-1 in the Champions League by BATE Borisov, but they gave their fans something to smile about early on tonight.
Mathieu Debuchy's cross eluded Ryan Mendes but fell kindly for an unmarked Roux to slot home from close range.
The hosts continued on the front foot throughout the first half and had much the better of the chances.
Roux freed Dimitri Payet in the 19th minute, but Lyon goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre was on hand to make the save.
Payet then got past Mouhamadou Dabo and teed up Mendes a minute before the interval, but again Vercoutre won the duel.
Lyon's first chance of note arrived four minutes after the interval when Maxime Gonalons' corner found Bafetimbi Gomis, whose 20-yard volley looked goal-bound until it was deflected away by Rio Mavuba.
Vercoutre continued to be the busier of the two keepers as the half wore on, pulling off a superb reflex save from Payet's neat back-heel in the 56th minute.
The Lyon number one again seized the ball on the hour mark after Payet had been put through by Roux.
Lille keeper Mickael Landreau - making his 86th consecutive Ligue 1 appearance - had little to do for much of the game but was called into action 13 minutes from time, pulling off an impressive save from substitute Alexandre Lacazette's brilliant volley.
However, three minutes later, he was beaten, as Lisandro latched on to Lacazette's pass and unleashed a fierce 25-yard drive which gave Landreau no chance.
