Paris St Germain returned to the summit of Ligue 1 as Zlatan Ibrahimovic's 18th goal of the season provided the Parisians with only their second victory in the Stade Chaban-Delmas since 1988.
Defeat for Bordeaux ended their nine-game unbeaten run and saw the hosts slip down to seventh in the league with a difficult trip to Nice up next.
Buoyed by a vociferous crowd, Les Girondins started well, pressing the visitors high up the pitch. Ludovic Obraniak linked up well with Jaroslav Plasil but the Czech's effort was easily gathered by Salvatore Sirigu.
Bordeaux's Cedric Carrasso was tested on the half-hour mark when Ibrahimovic fired a 20-yard free-kick under the wall but the goalkeeper gathered comfortably down at his right post.
Shortly before the break Sirigu saved Jaroslav Plasil's stinging 25-yard effort and the Italian goalkeeper's efforts were rewarded moments later when Ibrahimovic fired PSG into the lead.
Brazilian Lucas Moura played a superb ball in behind the Bordelais defence and the Swede held off the challenge of Benoit Tremolinas before poking the ball beyond Carrasso.
The second half began quietly with PSG seemingly happy to keep the hosts at bay. Obraniak managed to drag a shot wide after linking up with Plasil again but Bordeaux struggled to create any clear-cut opportunities.
Ibrahimovic managed to get a shot at goal on the hour mark which failed to trouble Carrasso before Bordeaux created an excellent goalscoring opportunity.
Benoit Tremolinas found Yoann Gouffran in the area and only a last-ditch challenge from Zoumana Camara prevented a certain goal after the Frenchman had controlled the ball superbly.
With the game now ebbing and flowing Maxwell's first-time shot was turned away superbly by Carrasso before Mariano's 25-yard effort flew just wide of Sirigu's top right corner.
Bordeaux continued to press for an equaliser but despite Henri Saivet's late effort forcing a good save from Sirigu PSG held out for their sixth consecutive clean sheet in Ligue 1.
