Ex-Castilla coach Luis Miguel Ramis has denied "attacking" current Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane in a tweet, clarifying that he was just pointing out how difficult it is for youngsters at Los Blancos to make it into the first team. Zidane faces an injury crisis ahead of Wednesday's Copa del Rey quarterfinal second leg at Celta Vigo, in which Madrid must overturn a 2-1 deficit, given that Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Luka Modric, Marcelo, Dani Carvajal, Danilo and Fabio Coentrao are all currently sidelined. With many wondering how Zidane's team will line up, former Madrid youth teamer and Deportivo La Coruna defender Ramis tweeted on Monday: "Problems at full-back? Achraf [Hakimi]. Problems in midfield? Aleix Febas. I have to say it. Hala Madrid." This led to more debate among Madrid fans and pundits, especially with Zidane having called up neither player to train with the first team on Monday, instead bringing in his son Enzo Zidane and full-back Alvaro Tejero, who may not be available as he faces a suspension for spitting at an opponent when playing for Castilla last weekend. Ramis told El Partidazo on Monday night that his aim had not been to directly criticise Zidane, just to point out how tough it is for youngsters to break through at the Santiago Bernabeu. "I was not trying to attack Zidane or launch any message to the club," Ramis said. "It was a tweet supporting the cantera [youth academy]. At Real Madrid it is more difficult for young players to break through than at other clubs. It has been like that all through history." Ramis succeeded Zidane as Castilla coach last January, but then left in the summer with the team having missed out on promotion.
