Bayern still on track despite loss

Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes says the Bundesliga leaders will recover quickly following their first loss of the season against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.

Bayern won their first eight matches of the new campaign, breaking the German record previously held by themselves and Mainz.

Despite faltering against Leverkusen, Heynckes believes Bayern will be able to continue their surge at the top.

"We won't be thrown out of our stride by the defeat, and we'll learn lessons from it," Heynckes said. "We still have a comfortable lead in the table.

"Against a Leverkusen team with excellent counterattacking ability, you have to keep the pace high for 90 minutes, but we didn't do that."

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was far more critical of his team, admitting Bayern were their own worst enemies.

"We practically scored the goals against ourselves," Neuer said. "They were unfortunate situations compounded by a great deal of bad luck."
