QPR relief over Charlie Austin, Dunne ruled out for three months

QPR striker Charlie Austin is set to miss just one match after limping away from Loftus Road on crutches after their 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

A long-term injury to their 13-goal top scorer would have been disastrous for the west Londoners in their bid to survive in the Premier League.

However, a statement released on the club's official Twitter account on Sunday morning read: "@chazaustin9 has suffered bruising to his right foot and will miss Tuesday's trip to @SunderlandAFC. Nothing too serious £QPR.''

However, there was worse news for defenders Richard Dunne and Nedum Onuoha.

A statement read: "Richard Dunne is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines owing to a knee injury.

"The Irishman sustained a medial cruciate ligament injury to his right knee in the R's 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday and is expected to be out for up to three months.

"Meanwhile, fellow defender Nedum Onuoha sustained a hamstring injury against the Saints and will be sidelined for approximately 3-4 weeks."
