Siena saw off Palermo on penalties after a dramatic 4-4 draw in their Coppa Italia round-of-16 clash on Tuesday night.
The visitors won 3-0 on spot-kicks after Palermo's Josip Ilicic had scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, to help his side come from behind three times to force extra-time.
Reginaldo put Siena in front in the 21st minute and Pablo Andres Gonzalez restored their lead five minutes before the break after Ilicic's first leveller from the spot.
The Slovenian made it 2-2 in the first minute of the second half only for Reginaldo to put Siena back in front in the 59th minute.
Ilicic scored his second penalty to complete his hat-trick and make it 3-3 in the 90th minute and Nicolas Bertolo put Palermo ahead for the first time in the match in the 98th minute.
But Angelo made it 4-4 two minutes later and Siena triumphed easily on penalties.
