Aust U19 women's soccer team lose 1-0
Australia have suffered a setback in their campaign to qualify for the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup, losing 1-0 to North Korea in Ho Chi Minh City. The Young Matildas were looking for their second consecutive victory at the Asian U-19 championship, but failed to make the most of their chances.Kwon Song-Hwa's powerful strike in the 22nd minute was the only goal of the match.Young Matildas coach Jeff Hopkins had mixed feelings after the narrow loss, which was marred by a torrential downpour in the early afternoon prior to kickoff."They really adapted to circumstances and conditions of the game, which were not easy. There were some great individual performances out there too," Hopkins said."I know that we are disappointed. I feel we deserved to get something out of the game tonight."It is really important for us to now recover this evening and regroup tomorrow as we prepare for Japan."Australia play Japan on Monday in the third of their five U-20 Women's World Cup qualification matches. The Young Matildas must finish in the top half of the six-team tournament to qualify for the World Cup.
