Jones eyes long-term Rovers switch

Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones says he is keen on a permanent return to Blackburn Rovers, after enjoying a four-month loan spell at Ewood Park.

Jones, 29, left German football for the first time in his career in January - joining Blackburn from Champions League semi-finalists Schalke.

The USA international quickly established himself as a regular under Rovers boss Steve Kean and started 15 Premier League games for the club, helping them avoid relegation.

And Jones is now hoping that Kean and the Rovers owners Venky's can thrash out a deal to bring him to Ewood Park on a permanent basis.

"It was a good time for me at Blackburn. Now I need to look at what happens," Jones said in The Sun.

"My team in Germany have told me to come back but my agent knows what I want. I've been talking with Steve Kean and he needs to talk to the owner."

Kean has expressed his desire to retain Jones' services, though he has previously questioned whether a permanent deal for the midfielder will be possible.
