Russian club Terek Grozny have appointed Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit as head coach on an 18-month contract.
Gullit, 48, is one of the greatest Dutch players of all time, but has endured an unspectacular managerial career that has taken in spells at Chelsea, Newcastle, Feyenoord and LA Galaxy.
Now his career has taken a shock turn after Chechen Republic outfit Terek announced on their website on Tuesday that Gullit has signed an initial one-and-a-half year contract, with the possibility of an extension.
Terek have only been back in the Russian top flight for two years and finished 12th in the 16-team Premier Liga last year.
In 2004, they claimed a shock Russian Cup triumph - winning the competition while still in the First Division.
