United States defender Oguchi Onyewu has joined FC Twente on loan until the end of the season from Serie A leaders AC Milan.
• On The Move: January 11
• Ronaldinho leaves Milan
Onyewu, 28, joined Milan from Standard Liege in 2009 but has managed to make only one appearance for the Rossoneri after suffering extensive injury problems.
A move to Twente, currently second in the Dutch Eredivisie, presents Onyewu with the chance to enjoy some regular first-team football under new coach Michel Preud'homme, a man he knows well.
It was Preud'homme who oversaw a title win for a Standard side featuring Onyewu in 2008, while the defender replicated the feat the following season.
Onyewu, who has won 51 caps for United States and represented the country at the World Cup finals in South Africa, also counts Metz, La Louviere and Newcastle United amongst his former clubs.
