Hoffenheim forward Demba Ba has gone on strike in order to force through a move to West Ham, according to the German club.

Ba, 25, has refused to travel with the club for a warm weather training camp in La Manga, seemingly due to Hoffenheim's reluctance to allow him to join the Hammers.

It is reported that West Ham have made an approach to loan the striker, with a view to possibly completing a permanent move at the end of the season for a fee of 6 million.

"Yes, it's true he has refused to go to La Manga, even though we demanded he catch a flight and join up with his team-mates," Hoffenheim managing director Ernst Tanner told the Daily Mail.

"I have told him he will have to face the consequences. It could be a fine or we could throw him out altogether and make him see out his contract without playing."

The player's lawyer Ran Ronen said: "It does seem Demba could move, and he'd like it to be to the Premier League. West Ham came up with a bid, but, at the moment, Hoffenheim do not appear to be working on it."
