Serbia move to replace coach Antic with Petrovic

Serbia have sacked coach Radomir Antic and replaced him with FC Timisoara boss Vladimir Petrovic.

Antic's future had been in some doubt for a number of months after Serbia failed to make it out of the group stages at the World Cup finals.

The country defeated Germany but lost to Ghana and Australia, and Antic received a four-match ban for abusing match official Jorge Larrionda as Serbia were knocked out.

With their coach suspended, Serbia beat Faroe Islands in their opening Euro 2012 qualifier before drawing with Slovenia.

The country's football association have now dismissed Antic and replaced him with Petrovic, who represented Arsenal and Red Star Belgrade during his playing career.

The new coach starts his job with Euro 2012 qualifiers against Estonia and Italy in October.
