Jean-Alain Boumsong has spoken of his delight at signing for Panathinaikos as he looks to get his career back on track.

Boumsong, who spent 18 months with Lyon, is expected to complete his move to Panathinaikos by the end of the week.

The former La Havre, Auxerre, Rangers, Newcastle United and Juventus player had also been linked with a move back to the Premier League with West Ham United.

"I have come here for titles," he told reporters. "I don't want to say that I am a leader. I simply want to do the best I can for my new team. I am very happy that I have come to Panathinaikos. I know that I will play alongside (Djibril) Cisse and (Sidney) Govou and I am happy about this."
