The agent of Roman Pavlyuchenko is expecting the player to remain at Tottenham Hotspur, claiming that Harry Redknapp sees him as an important member of his first-team squad.

At the start of the year Pavlyuchenko appeared certain to leave White Hart Lane, having barely played any Premier League football in the first half of the 2009-10 campaign. Spartak Moscow attempted to sign the player before the Russian transfer window closed in April, but by then the striker had rediscovered his form.

Pavlyuchenko, who has been linked with a loan move to Sporting Lisbon over the summer, went on a hot streak of scoring five goals in six games in all competitions, but still made only eight Premier League starts.

Agent Oleg Artemov told the Daily Star Sunday: "Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is not going to let Roman leave, he is necessary for Harry Redknapp. Roman himself does not want to leave England but, if that does happen, he will return to a Russian club.

"We have noted information appeared regarding the possible departure of the striker. Among contenders were Sporting Lisbon and Spartak Moscow. But I did not see any movement from Spartak - there were no specifics. Interest from both Zenit and Lokomotiv, as was reported in Britain, was nothing."

Redknapp has suggested he is more likely to sell Robbie Keane before the transfer window closes next month.
