The Moroccan FA have confirmed the appointment of Eric Gerets as new head coach of the national team.
Gerets will start his new job as soon as his commitments with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal end, which would be November at the latest.
Dominique Cuperly, who was Gerets' assistant at Marseille, will have the same position with Morocco and will take charge of the team until Gerets becomes available.
Gerets has won the Belgian league with Lierse and Club Brugge, two Dutch league titles with PSV Eindhoven, the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray and the Saudi championship with Al Hilal.
The Moroccan federation are keen to revitalise the national team after they failed to qualify for the World Cup or the African Nations Cup, and to that end they have already appointed former South Korea and Australia coach Pim Verbeek to the role of national youth technical director.
