Oswaldo Sanchez targets return

Santos Laguna goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez starred in the 2006 World Cup for Mexico, but the veteran has fallen down the pecking order since and knows he faces a tough task to claim his place back.

Sanchez is behind Memo Ochoa, one of the world's top young goalkeepers, who virtually guaranteed the starting spot for Mexico in South Africa, but maintains he would like to represent his country again.

"I've been in three World Cups. And I'd like to go to a fourth," Sanchez said. "But I have to play well for that to happen."

Sanchez was in the Mexican squad for nine of the country's World Cup qualifying matches but played only once and that was under former coach Sven Goran Eriksson. But he has hopes to impress new coach Javier Aguirre.

"Obviously, I'd like to be on [the national team], but I've got to show them with my actions," he said.
