Mozambique to make decision on Nooij future

Mart Nooij's future as coach of Mozambique will be determined by an executive board meeting of the national federation.

Reports have suggested the Dutchman's contract will not be renewed when it expires next week, following the team's exit from the African Nations Cup on Wednesday.

The southern Africans ended a disappointing campaign in Angola when they were soundly beaten 3-0 by Nigeria, a result that followed an encouraging 2-2 draw with Benin in their opening game and a 2-0 loss to Egypt.

"No decisions have officially been made," Mozambique media officer Sidio Jose Mugadza said. "It is not even 24 hours since the team has exited the tournament, so it's difficult to make this kind of judgement.

"It's something that the executive board of the Mozambique Football Federation (FMF) will decide together. At the moment they are disintegrated, with some officials in Angola and some here in Maputo, so nothing is finalised."

Mozambique were making their fourth appearance at the continental showpiece and have never progressed past the first round.
