Everton suspend Jo for breach of discipline

Brazilian striker Jo has been suspended by Everton and could be about to end his Premier League nightmare with a return to CKSA Moscow in January.

The 22-year-old breached club discipline after returning to South America without permission and has struggled to make an impact on the side this term after initially impressing.

Manager David Moyes is furious that the player, who has been suffering from a knee injury, didn't consult him and, asked if the suspension was short-term measure, Moyes said: ''At the moment, it might change in the future, but at the moment it is.

"Jo went back to Brazil without permission from the football club. He is now back but is suspended at the present time. I am disappointed. We like Jo, he has been a really good lad and we have enjoyed having him.

"But there has to be discipline at all football clubs. He left over a busy period when we were short of players. I found it very difficult so he is suspended from the club.''

Jo was a big-money signing for Manchester City in the summer of 2008, when the Blues forked out 18 million to take him from CSKA Moscow, but he lasted just six months at Eastlands before being loaned out to Everton.

The forward could now be set to return to Russia on a permanent basis for 11 million. Jo's goalscoring record for the Moscow club was impressive, having found the net 30 times in 53 appearances, but he has managed just six Premier League goals.
