Bolvia defender tested positive during World Cup game

Bolivia defender Miguel Angel Hoyos tested positive for a banned substance after a World Cup qualifier in June. The federation reported to the South American Confederation (CSF) that Hoyos had been given the steroid dexamethazone after the match "because he felt dizzy and wanted to vomit", FBF spokesman Javier Silva said.

Silva added that the federation was waiting to hear from the CSF whether Hoyos would be sanctioned but believed the matter would be laid to rest.

Bolivia, who have lost all chance of reaching the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, lost the June 6 qualifier 1-0 to Venezuela in La Paz.
