Panathinaikos president Nikolas Pateras says the club are closing in on the signing of striker Djibril Cisse.
Cisse scored 11 goals in his season-long loan at Premier League club Sunderland last year, but the club did not take up the option to sign the Marseille player permanently.
Reports last night suggested the 27-year-old was on the verge of signing a four-year deal with the Greek side and Pateras confirmed they have agreed a sum with the Ligue 1 club, thought to be around eight million euros.
"It's a year that we've been interested in Djibril Cisse,'' he told Le 10 Sport. "There's nothing left but for him to sign.
"We reached an agreement with Marseille, the player is coming with his wife and will stay two to three days in Greece and, if everything goes well, he will be a Panathinaikos player.''
Cisse, who also spent three seasons at Liverpool, had expressed his desire to remain in England and was linked with a move to Tottenham or Stoke.
