Hertha complete signing of defender Cufre

Hertha Berlin have confirmed the signing of Argentinian defender Leandro Cufre from French Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.

The 30-year-old Cufre, who has also had stints at Gimnasia La Plata, Roma and Siena, has signed a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Hertha general manager Dieter Hoeness said: "We are glad that with Leandro Cufre we have an experienced player who can operate on the right or left of defence."

Cufre added: "I am glad that I am getting a chance to play for such a prestigious club like Hertha.

"I want to ensure that the club achieves its objectives and look forward to playing in the Bundesliga."

Hertha are enjoying a solid Bundesliga campaign and sit third in the table, two points behind leaders Hoffenheim, ahead of the resumption of the league this weekend following the winter break .
