Leroux leads U.S. U-20 women over France

The U.S. U-20 women's national team kicked off its FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup campaign with a 3-0 win against France at Estadio Nelson Oyarzun Stadium in Chillan, Chile.

After a scoreless first half, the U.S. opened the scoring when forward Alex Morgan found the net in the 53rd minute for her seventh goal of the year. Second-half substitute Sydney Leroux, who came on at halftime, cemented the game for the U.S. by notching a pair of goals in the 56th and 71st minute to extend the lead further.

France was denied a goal by the outstanding goalkeeping of U.S. keeper Alyssa Naeher, although midfielder Nora Coton Pelagie came close with a long-range effort that struck the U.S. crossbar in the 66th minute.
