FC Bunyodkor coach Mirdjalal Kasimov has been named as the new coach of Uzbekistan.
Kasimov replaces 2007 AFC Coach of the Year Rauf Inileev who was dismissed following Uzbekistan's 1-0 home defeat to Australia that leaves them bottom of Group A in the fourth round of Asian qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup
The 38-year-old Kasimov's first game in charge is a friendly against Korea Republic on October 11 before they tackle Japan in their next World Cup qualifier four days later.
Former Uzbekistan Under 23 coach Vadim Abramov will be Klasimov's assistant as the duo look to end Uzbekistan's goalscoring drought, having failed to find the net in their last five games.
