Feyenoord beat Twente 3-1 to stay in touch

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Feyenoord fought back from a goal down to beat Twente Enschede 3-1 in the Dutch league on Thursday and stay in touch with the top.

Twente played an excellent first half but failed to settle the match. They scored after 21 minutes when Blaise N'Kufo converted a penalty following a foul by Andre Bahia on Romano Denneboom.

Luigi Bruins equalised five minutes before the interval from close range when he appeared unmarked before goalkeeper Sander Boschker after a free kick from Jonathan de Guzman.

Feyenoord turned the tide after the break when Tim de Cler set up Roy Makaay for his 12th goal this season in the 56th minute.

Dutch international De Cler sealed victory seven minutes later with a fierce shot from the left.

PSV Eindhoven, 3-1 winners over Sparta Rotterdam on Wednesday, are top with 43 points after 20 matches, three above Ajax Amsterdam, who beat Utrecht 2-0. Feyenoord climbed to third with 39 points, while Twente remained sixth with 36 points.
