Premier Showdown - Jan 1/2

It was a Merry Christmas for Dale Johnson and the Rest of the World as each picked up points in the first two festive rounds of Showdown. That means nothing really changes at the top - but Tommy Smyth needs a bit of a lift!

The last round of 2007 sees Dale and Tommy joined by Bing Chun Huang.

Bin tells us: 'I am an Arsenal Supporter in Bangkok, Thailand. But when it comes to predicting football results, my name is 'John Anthony'!

'I run a factory that manufactures football socks and fabrics. I want to manufacture football socks for the Arsenal team players! Hopefully my predictions can help me get the foot in the door to England's Premier League.'

Well, where there's life, there's hope!

Game on!

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, has the chance to challenge our two experts.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.

Dale's correct score form Pride Park was not enough to get him back in the hunt and trails behind challenger John Anthony and winner Tommy Smyth.

Table after Round 20:
Dale: 35.5
Rest of the World: 14.5
Tommy: 10

Moving on to the first round of 2008, and joining the New Year party is Bryan Smith.

Bryan tells us: 'Hi, I'm a 36-year old accountant from Voorhees, New Jersey near Philadelphia, and a big fan of the English Premier League, particularly Arsenal Football Club.

'However, I'm also a big fan of Premier Showdown, as I've been playing along with the game for three seasons now. I make my predictions each round and keep score as a fourth competitor to Dale, Tommy and the ROTW.

'I won the league in '05-'06, and the ROTW pipped me to the post on the last day last season, but I'm struggling this year with only nine points. The comeback starts with the new year!'
