Fantasy Squad of the Month - December 07

It's the forward players who take the plaudits in December following a month which saw a glut of goals across a packed programme.

Manchester United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo who cemented his position as the top scoring player in the game by amassing an amazing 57 points to take his season's tally to 118. That means he scored almost half his whole tally just in December!

The other highlight sees Steven Gerrard of Liverpool move above Cesc Fabregas to become the game's second best player. Fab has suffered a bit of a dip lately, going by his early season form, with the goals drying up.

Meanwhile, Tim Cahill's continuing goalscoring form means he keep his place.

Up front, the four goals from Dimitiar Berbatov - taking his season's total to eight - against Reading means he bursts up to second in the strikng places. The top striker is now Roque Santa Cruz following his festive form.

With the Manager of the Month getting a copy of FIFA 2008 there's every reason to sign-up if you've stalled before.

December Managers of the Month
• Premier League: Brian Shannon, Canada
• Ligue 1: Valery Villena, USA
• La Liga: Diego Reyes Martinez, Venezuela
• Serie A: Gerard Yeoh, Malaysia So, back to the Premier League squad of the month for October. It's a squad of 15, just like you have to select, based on points gained for players which would fit into the 100m budget. Who's in?

GOALKEEPERS: Everton's Tim Howard (22) was the best performing stopper for December. He was followed again Manuel Almunia of Arsenal (18)

DEFENDERS: The defence this month was from a range of clubs, some more expected than others! There's a second Everton player in the form of Phil Neville (26) thanks to his goalscoring exploits. He's joined by Chelsea's Alex (22).

The rest of the defence is made up of goalscoring rearguard players who have at times shipped a few goals! Wigan's Ryan Taylor (17), Reading's Ivar Ingimarsson (17) and also David Wheater (15) of Middlesbrough.

MIDFIELDERS: The centre of the park is far more star-studded and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo (57) was a highly impressive performer. Second best for December was a joint award for Everton's Tim Cahill and Steven Gerrard (both 36).

The remaining two places in the centre of the park go to two of the Premier League's lesser lights - Birmingham's Sebastian Larsson (26) and Denny Landzaat (25) of Wigan.

STRIKERS: The top performing strikers this month were, as previously mentioned, Dimitar Berbatov (42) and Roque Santa Cruz (40). The final place goes to, remarkably, a third Wigan player - Marcus Bent (30)

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard (Everton), Manuel Almunia (Arsenal)
Defenders: Phil Neville (Everton), Rodrigo Alex (Chelsea), Ryan Taylor (Wigan), Ivar Ingimarsson (Reading), David Wheater (Middlesbrough)
Midfielders: Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd), Tim Cahill (Everton), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Sebastian Larsson (Birmingham City), Denny Landzaat (Wigan)
Strikers: Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham), Roque Santa Cruz (Blackburn), Marcus Bent (Wigan)

That squad would have scored 309 points - quite an improvement on Jacky Yeoh's 240! So, there's scope for anyone to pick up the big prize!
