Walsh employs shoe-phone celebration

Associated Press

WUHAN, China -- Australian striker Sarah Walsh is very quick, and in the Matildas' opening 4-1 win over Ghana she saved her fastest burst for a sprint to the bench to celebrate her opening goal.

Walsh reached the bench and used her boot to make a Max Smart-style "shoe phone" call.

Midfielder Colette McCallum revealed after the match that the team had spent five minutes before the match debating the merits of the shoe-phone celebration against a kangaroo-hop.

Coach Tom Sermanni's reaction to this news? "They've got too much time on their hands."
