Argentine Basualdo to coach Peru's Cienciano

LIMA, March 17 (Reuters) - Former Argentina international Jose Basualdo confirmed on Saturday that he is to coach Peruvian club Cienciano.

Basualdo, who played at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, has previously coached two other Peruvian sides, Universitario and Jose Galvez.

'I'm very happy to return to Peru and coach Cienciano,' he said in a radio interview. 'I've had two chances before....... this is a new challenge and I'm more mature.'

Basualdo replaces Julio Cesar Uribe, who left to take charge of the Peruvian national team.

Cienciano, Copa Sudamericana winners in 2003, are based in the Andean city of Cusco and are the only Peruvian team to have won an international competition. However, they have never won a domestic title.
