 Alkmaar and Tilburg cruise into quarter-finals

AMSTERDAM, Jan 23 (Reuters) - David Mendes da Silva hit a hat-trick for AZ Alkmaar during their 5-0 win over second division MVV Maastricht in a fourth-round Dutch Cup match on Tuesday.

Mendes da Silva opened the scoring after 19 minutes when he netted a corner kick from close range, converted a penalty minutes before the interval and added his third just inside the hour.

Willem II Tilburg beat second division leaders Graafschap Doetinchem 4-2 to reach the quarter-finals.
