Late Bocanegra goal gives Fulham win over Spurs

FULHAM, England -- American defender Carlos Bocanegra scored his first goal of the season in second-half injury time to lead Fulham over Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Tuesday night in England's Premier League.

Bocanegra headed in Simon Elliott's free kick one minute into injury time. Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson made three outstanding saves to deny Bocanegra's teammate, U.S. forward Brian McBride.

Tottenham finished a man short after defender Michael Dawson was ejected in the 72nd minute after receiving his second yellow card.

In another game, Wigan tied Everton 1-1 and moved past Arsenal into fifth place.

Chelsea (20-1-2) leads the league with 62 points, followed by Manchester United (14-3-6) with 48, Liverpool (13-3-5) with 44, Tottenham (11-5-8) with 41, Wigan (12-10-2) with 38 and Arsenal (11-7-4) with 37. Fulham (8-11-5) is 13th with 29 points.
