CAIRO, Egypt -- Nigeria rallied to beat Senegal 2-1, allowing the two teams to clinch the final two berths in the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations.
Zimbabwe upset Ghana 2-1 in Tuesday's other Group D match, leaving both tied with Senegal on three points. While Nigeria finished with three victories to win the group with nine points, Senegal went through on goal difference.
Ghana became the third World Cup qualifier to be eliminated at the African Championship. Only Ivory Coast and Tunisia have advanced to the last eight.
Senegal plays Guinea in Alexandria in Friday's quarterfinals, while Egypt meets Congo in Cairo. On Saturday, Cameroon and Ivory Coast meet in Cairo, and Nigeria plays defending champion Tunisia in Port Said.
The semifinals are Feb. 7 and the final is Feb. 10.
