Westley and Peschisolido takeover at Derby

Derby have appointed academy coach Terry Westley as interim manager with striker Paul Peschisolido acting as his right-hand man.

The Rams, who parted company with manager Phil Brown last night, will now begin the process of searching for a replacement for the former Bolton assistant boss.

Westley has enjoyed a touchline presence at first-team games under Brown's regime while Peschisolido, sidelined by a groin strain, is currently supporting his wife and Birmingham managing director Karren Brady, who is due to have surgery for an aneurysm in the brain.

Westley said: 'We have been on the training ground today and I have been speaking to a whole group of senior players, including Paul Peschisolido, Jeff Kenna and others.

'They have all got their own ideas, some of them a little bit quirky, but we are all pulling together to get a win against Sheffield United tomorrow and lift spirits here.'

Meanwhile, director of football Murdo Mackay revealed the club are closing in on a striker signing who is expected to make his debut against the Blades.
