Woodgate makes return to Real Madrid squad
MADRID, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Centre-back Jonathan Woodgate was named in the Real Madrid squad for their league game at Celta Vigo on Sunday after a three-week lay off with a calf problem.
The 26-year-old England international returns to the fold
but Real are still without strikers Ronaldo and Raul, right back
Michel Salgado and midfielder Pablo Garcia who remain injured.
Woodgate sustained his injury on Jan. 8, just a week after
returning from a two-month lay-off because of a torn hamstring.
His career has been blighted by injury problems in recent
years. He joined Real in August 2004 with a serious thigh injury
and did not make his debut until over a year later.
He suffered a minor ankle strain in a practice match in
October and then sustained the hamstring injury at the start of
November when he was about to be recalled to the England squad.
Real are fourth in the Primera Liga, three points ahead of
Celta who returned to the top flight at the start of the season.
