U.S. finalizes soccer exhibition against Poland

SAN DIEGO -- The U.S. men's soccer team finalized plans to play Poland in an exhibition game on March 1 at Kaiserslautern, Germany, where the Americans will play Italy in the World Cup.

Poland's soccer federation announced the game at Fritz-Walter-Stadion on Dec. 21, but the U.S. Soccer Federation waited until the contract was signed on Sunday.

"We are happy to be playing in a community where so many American military personnel and their families will have the opportunity to be a part of the World Cup experience," U.S. coach Bruce Arena said. "We think Kaiserslautern is going to be a very pro-American venue in March and again in June."

The game is on the only date before May that Arena will have access to all of his European-based players.
