Shovkovsky recovering from operation

KIEV, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Ukraine goalkeeper Olexander Shovkovsky has undergone a successful operation for a broken collarbone and will be out of action for two months, his club Dynamo Kiev said on Friday.

'It was a complicated operation, requiring quite a bit of skill,' club doctor Volodymyr Malyuta said on the Dynamo website.

'It took place under general anaesthetic and lasted about an hour. The operation was successful.'

Shovkovsky, 31, played in all of Ukraine's 12 World Cup qualifiers, helping them win a tough European Group Two.

He broke his collarbone after colliding with an opponent in a club friendly against Russian side FK Moscow on Tuesday.

Ukraine are in Group H with Spain, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia at the June 9-July 9 World Cup in Germany.
