Premier Showdown - Jan 2-4

Scenes of joy for Alexis Cortes on New Year's Eve as he added another victory to the Rest of the World's score - and in some style.

So, the marker has been set for 2006, with our challenger's team all out to claw back the lead established by Dale Johnson. Oh, and Tommy's playing as well!

Our first challenger of 2006 is Thomas Dahm, who lives in Milverton, Ontario, Canada.

Though Thomas was born in Austria, he moved to Canada at the age of five and has been in love with the beautiful game ever since.

He plays for two competitive outdoor teams and one indoor team. Thomas, aged 34, will be flying across to watch Manchester United in action in March. He gets to watch three Premiership games on a Saturday and up to two on a Sunday - so there plenty to watch from these shores!

Thomas works as a purchaser, drafting department in Brunner, Ontario. Milverton is five minutes away, which he describes as a quaint little town in Southern Ontario about 35 minutes west of Kitchener, Waterloo.

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, will get the chance to challenge our two experts. They, along with the challenger, will cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Soccernet's Premiership Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the challenge from our team.

Points are then awarded as follows:
  • Three points for a correct result and scoreline
  • One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit will receive three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total will be added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points will be shared between those level on points.
