Togo to train for Nations Cup in Tunisia

LOME, Jan 2 (Reuters) - World Cup finalists Togo will begin preparations for the upcoming African Nations Cup finals at a training camp in Tunisia from Tuesday, the Togolese Football Federation said on Monday.

A total of 39 players have been invited for the training camp at Sfax in the south of Tunisia, officials added.

Togo are to depart Tunisia after four days for friendly matches in France against Guinea and Zimbabwe.

Togo are to meet Guinea at Viry-Chatillon in France on January 7 and hope to finalise a match against Zimbabwe three days later.

Guinea and Zimbabwe will be in France preparing for the Nations Cup finals, which are being hosted by Egypt and start on January 20.

Togo, who proved one of the surprise packages of the recent World Cup qualifiers, have a tough opening group at the Nations Cup finals paired with Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and fellow World Cup finalists Angola.
