MEXICO CITY, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Former Mexico international Fernando Quirarte has become the third coaching victim of the new Mexican season after being fired by struggling Chiapas.
'When the expectations aren't met and the numbers aren't good enough, then this happens,' Quirarte, who played in the 1986 World Cup, told Televisa radio. 'After a chat with the directors, they made the decision.' The team known as the Jaguars, who are based in the southern city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, have picked up only four points from seven games in the Apertura championship, the first of two tournaments played in the 2005-06 season. Quirarte had been in charge for 15 games. Benjamin Galindo was the first coach to fall when he was fired by Guadalajara, Mexico's most popular club, three games into the season. He was replaced by Spaniard Xabier Azkargorta, who led Bolivia to the 1994 World Cup finals. Next to go was Carlos Bracamontes, who was fired by Sinaloa and replaced by another Spaniard, Juan Manuel Lillo.
