Liverpool misfit Diomede joins Ajaccio

French international midfielder Bernard Diomede is to be loaned by Liverpool to first division AC Ajaccio until the end of the season, the Corsican club said on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Diomede, a member of the France squad that won the 1998 World Cup, struggled to settle at Liverpool despite the club's French manager Gerard Houllier.

He joined the English premier league side from AJ Auxerre in 2000 for around £2.5million.

'I feel I'm wanted and it's a nice feeling,' said Diomede, who has eight international caps. 'Ajaccio will perhaps help me start a new career.'

Liverpool recently loaned another French player, Gregory Vignal, to Corsican club Bastia.
