Sannino named as new Chievo boss

ESPN staff

Former Palermo boss Giuseppe Sannino has been named as Chievo's new head coach, with the Italian set to be officially appointed on Tuesday afternoon.

Sannino's second spell at Palermo ended in dour fashion as the club were relegated to Serie B, but the 56-year-old will remain in Serie A, succeeding Eugenio Corini at Chievo.

Perhaps Sannino's most prolific stint as a manager was during the 2011-12 season with Siena as he led the Tuscan club to the Coppa Italia semi-finals and avoided relegation.

Chievo confirmed the appointment with a statement on their official website: "Chievo have entrusted the care of the first team to Giuseppe Sannino. The new coach will be presented to the press on Tuesday, July 2 at 1500 (BST)."
